For The Journey: Limited Print Edition

I started writing pieces of poetry for this book back in 2019. It was the year when I finally accepted that my marriage could not be salvaged: that whatever we had was broken beyond repair, but that I alone might not be. And so, I wrote every word I couldn’t bring myself to speak aloud. It was an exercise in catharsis, a chance to purge my pain so that I might step uninhibited into my power once more.

The following year I searched for agents and submitted the manuscript to every publisher I could find that was open to receiving unsolicited material. I was quietly hopeful that one of them would see some promise in it but after many months of silence I realised that if my words were ever going to see make their way into the world, I would have to take matters into my own hands.

So today, I have decided to do just that. Every part of this process has been a true labour of love, from writing to refining, from dreaming up the cover to commissioning the final artwork from the incredibly talented Sophie of With Wild Lines. The beautiful and intricate path she created winds its way onto the spine, representing the overarching theme of the book perfectly.

Every woman who has read these words so far has told me how needed they are in the world. Heartbreak is a universal experience, and this book is filled to the brim with pieces of a broken heart. The book weaves in and out of seven sections, each an unavoidable stop on a woman's healing path home to herself. It is not merely a reflection of my own journey, the words also act as a mirror for the reader; reminding her of her strength and ability to rise, no matter how many times life cracks her open.
